📌 Introduction:
Drug abuse among young people has become one of the most pressing social challenges facing Nigeria today. Across secondary schools, universities, and communities, increasing numbers of youths are experimenting with or becoming addicted to harmful substances such as tramadol, codeine, marijuana, and other hard drugs.
Many young people turn to drugs due to peer pressure, unemployment, depression, family instability, or the desire to escape harsh economic realities. Unfortunately, what often starts as experimentation can quickly develop into addiction — leading to poor academic performance, broken relationships, crime, mental health disorders, and even death.
Addressing drug abuse requires collective responsibility from parents, schools, religious institutions, community leaders, and government agencies. Community engagement, awareness programs, mentorship initiatives, and youth empowerment projects are essential in reversing this growing crisis.
The following questions are designed to encourage discussion, awareness, and deeper understanding of drug abuse among youths.
